A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) is a document which indicates compliance with Section 508 accessibility guidelines. It was developed by the Information Technology Industry Council and the Government Services Administration to assist with federal procurement practices.
VPATs are one tool for assessing the compliance of third-party resources with Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act and may be referred to in collection-development policies as well as license negotiations and other procedures for evaluating and acquiring electronic resources.
